[Seoul] Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop

The musical [Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop] is an origianl stage adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by author Hwang Bo-Reum.
The novel was recognized as the no.1 translated novel in the 2024 Japan Book Awards and has been published in multiple countries as a global bestseller, resonating with readers worldwide. Its heartwarming message of empathy and comfort is brought to life on stage through music, offering audiences a new layer of emotional experience.  

 

The story begins with 'Yeongju', who opens a small bookshop in Hyunam-dong after organizing her life. Initially quiet, the bookshop gradually attracts visitors, and Yeongju starts hosting a 'Writing Workshop by author Hyeon Seung-woo' with her customers. 
 

People from diverse backgrounds share their thoughts and pains through writing, listening to each other's stories, and gradually come to understand themselves and one another. 

 

The musical [Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop] explores the process of accepting life as it is, rather than seeking perfect answers.
Even if the path you are walking feels uncertain or wrong at times, it is still a journey moving forward at your own pace.

 

The musical offers a gentle message of reassurance - "It's okay, you're doing well" - providing quiet comfort and empathy for all who have made it through today.

3. Present the voucher at the ticket office to receive your ticket.

4. After receiving your ticket, follow the entry instructions and enjoy the performance. 

1. Admission is allowed for those aged 8(elementary school students) and above.

2. Children below elementary school age are strictly prohibited from entering the theater, regardless of ticket possession or accompaniment by a guardian.

3. Elementary school students may enter only if accompanied by an adult.

4. Elementary school students must  bring valid proof of age (e.g. resident ID, passport, etc.).

5. Entry will be denied if age cannot be verified, and cancellations, refunds, or changes will not be allowed in such cases. 

6. No entry is allowed once the performance has started, and same-day cancellations, refunds, or changes are not possible. 

7. If you leave during the performance, re-entry is not permitted, including for restroom breaks, and cancellations, refunds, or changes are not allowed. 

8. Tickets cannot be canceled, refunded, or changed due to personal reasons, parking issues, or traffic delays. Traffic around Daehangno can be congested, so public transportation is recommended.

9. Responsibility for age verification, required documentation for ticket collection, and understanding performance guidelines lies with the ticket purchaser(audience). No cancellations, refunds, or changes will be allowed on the day of the performance.

10. Due to the subtitle service setup, subtitles will not be provided if you arrive after the performance has started.
